Festival Insight

The festival’s look at what is happening in the world of food and wine through the festival’s eyes and ears.

JASON DADY NAMED SAINT OF THE KITCHEN

Jason Dady, owner and executive chef of three restaurants in San Antonio, has been selected as the 2008 recipient of the San Antonio New World Wine and Food Festival (NWWFF) tribute called the Premio San Pascual Award.

The San Pascual Award is presented by the NWWFF annually and is earned by someone who makes a significant impact in the food industry in Texas.  San Pascual is the official saint of the kitchen in Mexico, Spain and Italy.  Dady has been active in the festival for the past six years and plays a lead role in coordinating events year round for the organization.  He recently opened his third restaurant in the city called Tre Trattoria, a Tuscan inspired Italian bistro.  Dady also owns Bin 555 and The Lodge Restaurant of Castle Hills.

“Jason goes above and beyond the call of duty for the festival each year,” said Suzanne Taranto, President and CEO of the NWWFF.  “He works nearly every event we have – from the Hole in Wine Golf Tournament in May to the Grand Tasting in November.  His enthusiasm and creativity in the kitchen has really helped San Antonio earn its new level of awareness as a culinary destination.”

“I am honored and humbled to be this year’s recipient of the San Pascual Award,” said Dady.  “To be included every year in the NWWFF and its great events is a pleasure that I look forward to each and every year.  I take great pride in doing my small part to help ensure that San Antonio and our great chefs get a chance to showcase our talents and grow the festival each and every year.  We are all very fortunate for all of our chefs’ dedication and the hard work of the NWWFF staff to make this festival Texas’ best!  Thank you so much for this honor, I accept it with great humility!”
