Trina Hahnemann, Chef / Author / Creative Director

The Scandinavian Cookbook

As this review makes clear, Ms. Hahnemann’s book has become a “cultural calling card” for Denmark and other Scandinavian countries since its publication in the spring of 2009.  Ms. Hahnemann, a leading Danish TV chef, writer, and creative director, introduces the world to a light, modern version of Scandinavian home cooking that fits perfectly with today’s desire for simple, healthy food.

In addition to providing a culinary guide to Scandinavia, Trina Hahnemann is also spreading the word about her philosophies surrounding the importance of communal mealtimes –“the power of the meal”—as a way of bridging differences and finding common ground for discussions around the world.

Trina’s schedule of visits in major American cities – New York, Minneapolis, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Washington, D.C. – from September through December 2009 will allow her to further develop these ideas: created in Denmark but destined for a much wider audience. Each visit will include media coverage in a variety of print, broadcast, and online outlets.  The theme of the tour will focus on Trina’s writings and ideas, including her vision for global “Tuesday Night Dinners.” As Trina says in the introduction to

The Scandinavian Cookbook: “It is my dream that people will take the time necessary in their daily lives to sit down and have a nice meal together. The food should be made out of the best, preferably organic, ingredients. It should be prepared with great care and love – without spending a whole day in the kitchen. And when the meal is ready it is an opportunity for us all to sit down together and exchange opinions, share our feelings, and to pass on bits of information on everyday matters. This opportunity should not be missed.”
