Marcel Chene – The Fig Tree

A native of Tours, Chef Marcel Chene has an extensive background in French cuisine.  He began his culinary career with an apprenticeship at the exclusive Restaurant La Boule d’Or and honed his skills at numerous restaurants in Paris and the Loire Valley.  There he created a recipe for Mouclade Sauce that is now patented.  Marcel moved to the United States in 1996 initially working at a bed and breakfast chalet in Colorado before making his way to San Antonio.  He is currently the Chef de Cuisine at the Fig Tree Restaurant.  For seven consecutive years the Fig Tree has received the DiRona Award (Distinguished Restaurants of North America) as well the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence and a Triple Diamond rating from AAA.
