The discerning critics at Gourmet Magazine have aptly celebrated Chef Andrew Weissman as “the real thing” and his restaurant was named one of the magazine’s Top 50 Restaurants in America in 2001. But if Andrew Weissman, Culinary Institute of America (CIA) graduate and native son of San Antonio can’t claim to be “real French,” there’s no denying the authenticity of his passion for the fine foods and exacting culinary techniques of France. After finishing at the top of his class at CIA, Weissman worked as a sous chef for his mentor, Chef Bernard Andrieux, in France. In 1998, Chef Weissman achieved his dream of opening a French restaurant, Le Rêve, in San Antonio. His dedication has paid off— Le Rêve was designated #1 restaurant in Texas by Gourmet Magazine in 2000 and earned 4 stars from the Mobile Travel Guide.
